Environmental Monitoring Services:

UAE is committed to protecting and enhancing air quality to achieve a safe and healthy environment for the protection and preservation of the occupational health and safety; Protection of the environment through the sustainable use of our natural resources, and controlling identified pollutants that can impact the natural environment. Therefore environmental testing services are vital to control and improve these conditions.

A clean air supply is essential to our own health and that of the environment. But since the industrial revolution, the quality of the air we breathe has deteriorated considerably – mainly as a result of human activities. Therefore, protection of the air environment through environmental testing is by source to control for and prevent emissions to air pollutants produced.

WAFA Biological Laboratory is working together with Stakeholders, Community, Regulatory Bodies, Private Sectors to achieve the goal holistically. W A F A team is also committed to achieve vision. Keeping in Mind and to keep environment safe, we have validated, approved and accredited for environmental scopes by Emirates International Accreditation Centre (EIAC).

INDOOR AIR QUALITY MONITORING
Why is IAQ Important?

In recent years, comparative risk studies performed by EPA’s Science Advisory Board (SAB) have consistently ranked indoor air pollution among the top five environmental risks to public health. Good IAQ is an important component of a healthy indoor environment, and can help schools, offices, to reach their primary goal of healthy and safe environment.

Failure to prevent or respond promptly to IAQ problems can increase long- and short-term health effects for students and staff, such as:

  1. Coughing;
  2. Eye irritation;
  3. Headaches;
  4. Allergic reactions;
  5. Aggravate asthma and/or other respiratory illnesses; and
  6. In rare cases, contribute to life-threatening conditions such as Legionnaire’s disease carbon monoxide poisoning.

Therefore, AL SA’FAT Dubai Green Building System have established minimum ventilation requirements for adequate Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) requirement for all new and existing buildings which are air conditioned must comply with minimum requirements of latest edition of ASHRAE Standard 62.1, 62.2 and 170. IAQ is also monitored per Abu Dhabi OSHAD (2019) requirement.

Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Monitoring
  1. Particulate matter (PM2.5, PM 5.0, PM 10, TSPM)
  2. Carbon Monoxide (CO)
  3. Carbon Dioxide (CO2)
  4. Total Volatile Organic Compounds (TVOC)
  5. Formaldehyde
  6. Sulphur Dioxide (SO2)
  7. Nitrogen oxides (NOX)
  8. Ozone
  9. Bacterial
  10. Yeast/Mold
AMBIENT AIR QUALITY MONITORING

A clean air supply is essential to our own health and that of the environment. But since the industrial revolution, the quality of the air we breathe has deteriorated considerably – mainly as a result of human activities. Therefore, protection of the air environment is by source to control for and prevent emissions to air pollutants produced. Therefore, the authority has established requirement to ensure following pollutants are within the limit:
Ambient Air Quality Criteria Dubai Municipality Authority have various regulations and requirements for the ambient air quality. Abu Dhabi OSHAD (2019)

Ambient Air Quality Monitoring for the following Air Pollutants in the Ambient Air
  1. Sulfur Dioxide (SO2)
  2. Carbon Monoxide (CO)
  3. Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2)
  4. Ozone (O3)
  5. Total Suspended Particles (TSP)
  6. Particulate Matter (PM)
STACK EMISSION MONITORING

Air Pollutants Emission for Stationary Combustion sources using Hydrocarbon Fuel. The industries discharging wastes to the air environment must exercise good control practice to meet maximum emission limits as specified in Dubai Regulations EN-4.0: Air Environment. Non-compliance shall be levied with a financial penalty. Guidelines for the following selected industries operating under Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC)/Dubai World (DW) communities.

LIGHT/LUX MONITORING

Good lighting plays an important role in safeguarding health at work by enabling employees to perform their work comfortably and efficiently. Also ensure compliance with safety measures for the prevention of hazards.

Lux/Light Monitoring
  1. Lux Level
OCCUPATIONAL NOISE MONITORING

UAE and Abu Dhabi Regulatory Authorities have set up Code of Practice (CoP) OSHAD (2018) regulations and applies to all employers within the Emirates of Abu Dhabi. Per DM requirements, all new buildings should comply with Internal Noise Criteria from External Noise Sources, Internal Noise Criteria from Mechanical Services Noise, Internal Airborne Sound Insulation Guidance Values, and Internal Impact Sound Pressure Levels meet the control requirements.

  1. Noise/Sound Monitoring
  2. Sound Level Monitoring – dB(A)/dB(C)
CLEAN ROOM VALIDATION

At WAFA, we perform Clean Room Monitoring & Validation for hospitals and pharmaceutical manufacturing industries. Clean Room in which the concentration of airborne particles is controlled and contains one or more clean zones. Zone is a defined space in which the concentration of airborne particles is controlled to meet specified airborne particulate class.
